About
Muay Chaiya is a traditional Muay Thai style from Chaiya, in southern Thailand — disciplined, defensive, and passed down teacher to student.
The lineage
Muay Chaiya traces its origins to the ancient town of Chaiya in Surat Thani province. For centuries the art was preserved within families and handed down as a cultural inheritance. Unlike modern combat sports that emphasise competition, it was traditionally a complete system of self-defence, spiritual development and cultural expression.
Its survival through the 20th century is owed to Ajahn Pa and his students, who recognised it was not merely a fighting system but a living heritage. Today the tradition continues to evolve while keeping its principles of economy of motion, efficiency and respect for its origins.

เคารพ — Respect
Respect is the foundation of Muay Chaiya practice. Students learn to respect their teachers, training partners and the art’s heritage — the safe environment that deep learning needs.
วินัย — Discipline
Discipline governs the training path. Consistent practice builds the mental fortitude and physical control that make Muay Chaiya effective; discipline turns technique into habit, habit into mastery.
ประเพณี — Tradition
Tradition connects practitioners to the generations before them. Honouring the forms, rituals and philosophy makes you part of an unbroken lineage that stretches back centuries.
