Basic Student
In any martial art, the foundations, the fundamentals are the most important part of the training. Both in concept, and in body structure and pose, it's important to have a solid base, and in Muay Chaiya all techniques are built on these simple ideas and techniques. It is important that you practise regularly and get feedback from you teacher, whether it's in person, or online (via Assessments). To pass the basic level is not hard, but you must show that you have practised and are comfortable with the movements and techniques. Without this, the techniques that come later will not be as effective.
Beginner Student
Now that you've got the fundamentals of the movement and defense working, it's time to pick things up a level. Whereas in the Basic Level there was more emphasis on the defensive techniques, as a Beginner student, you've to learn how to use the defense and take advantage of the opening that it creates in the enemy's attack. Work on building fluidity between movements in combination, stringing together a mix of attack and defense techniques. Practise the drills and combinations religiously, until the movements and transitions feel natural and smooth. Remember to keep an eye on form, but start to feel how the movements work with Plik Liam, Dae Dua and the Yang Sam Kum to generate a solid stance, Ta Kru and create power using the body weight and speed.
