Wiang Kaeng Naa
Swing the Front Shin
Easy to do, difficult to master, Wiang Kaeng Na is an important part of your Muay Chaiya arsenal, and you must learn how and when to execute it safely and effectively.
You should first of all practice and master the Wiang Kaeng Lang (back leg turning kick) so that you get a feel for using your body weight and the timing of the technique. Wiang Kaeng Na is much quicker and faster, so you have to be tighter and more coordinated to make the kick hard.
This kick is usually used as a low kick to the inside of the leg and knee, using the shin, or the top of instep of the foot (make sure you tense your foot and tendons!) but it can also be used to attack the waste or even higher, although it takes a lot of practice doing this with speed and power.
If you strike the inside of the knee, aim for the muscle on the side, or the tendons at the back. These are very sensitive, and a couple of hard kicks will disable your opponent (or at least make it difficult to walk!)
