Faad Sun Kaen

Forearm Whip

The twin of Sab Sun Kaen, Faad Sun Kaen means 'whipping forearm' and is used as a quick and suprising follow up to a variety of moves. When sparring, the gloved fist can be used to strike the target, but in reality, the forearm bone (Ulna or the Ulna Head) should be used to strike the target. Viable targets include the temple, the eye socket, the jaw and the neck. If the technique is done correctly using Phlik Liam, it is very easy to generate a lot of striking power, and so you should use it carefully when working with a partner.

Execution

Joob Sawg is an excellent move to preceed Faad Sun Kaen:
  1. From left stance, execute a left hand Joob Sawg (front hand).
  2. Start to reverse Phlik Liam (to the left)
  3. Clench your left fist and swing it out in a 45 degree chopping motion.
  4. Raise your right fist to guard your right temple.
  5. Complete the Phlik Liam letting your left forearm whip out and smash your desired target.
  6. Return to the Tha Kru.
Most of the movement comes from your body turning, your arm shouldn't need to move to much. Also, don't straighten your arm, as it is possible to pop your elbow if something blocks the path of your whipping arm.
