Toob

Hammer Fist

Toob is a downward strike to the nose or face using the side of the fist. Because of this, it's usually preceeded by a move that leaves the striking hand up high - such as Thad Ma Laa or Beurt. In fact, Thad Ma Laa is the perfect movement to set up the opponent for Thoob, because if you do an upwards elbow and force the opponent's head backward (facing up) then it's at a perfect angle for a downward smash. If the opponent's face is not facing upward, then target the opponent's nose. If sparring with gloves, it can be used to stun or shock the opponent by smashing them on top of the head, but without gloves, you may damage your hand.

Execution

Start in Tha Kru - left stance:
  1. Execute a front hand Thad Ma Laa (left hand) remember to follow through with the upward elbow.
  2. Reverse direction of your body and whip out your left fist as you bring it straight down the center line.
  3. Return to the Tha Kru.
You should be able to pull of this combination with speed and power. Try mixing it into your normal Thad Ma Laa training, at times when you would do normal Thad Ma Laa, add a Thoob in afterwards. This is a great move for sparring and real fighting alike, so have fun!
