Bind Fists Raise Knee Shin Kick
Your first kicking exercise uses the Chat kick with the ball of the foot. Once you have the balance of kicking, try to rock your upper body back in time with the kick, then rock back so your body is vertical once the kick is complete and you are in your guard.

- Start in the right Yok Khao Guard.
- Kick out with the foot at about waist height (or higher) and Phan Mut.
- Bring the foot back and Phan Mut, you should now be back in the correct Yok Khao Guard.
- Repeat 10 times
- Change sides as in (4) Phan Mut Yok Khao.
- Kick out with the foot at about waist height (or higher) and Phan Mut.
- Bring the foot back and Phan Mut, you should now be back in the correct Yok Khao Guard.
- Repeat 10 times
- Change sides as in 4.Phan Mut Yok Khao.

Key points
- Kick out with the heel
- Keep your toes curled up
- Remember to keep your toes pointing up when in Yok Khao Guard
- Kick straight
- Keep a steady rhythm
- Remember to rock your body back with each kick, to gain more power and really work those abs!
Common mistakes
- Bending the standing knee. This will bend naturally when you rock your body, but don't do it on purpose!
- Teeb. This is a snap kick, not a push kick
- Over extend the knee. In Muay Chaiya your knees are never straight.
